For me, this whole experience with CSA survivors was not entirely new, but rather a tumultuous ride, sometimes unsettling, sometimes making me feel unwell, at times causing anxiety and feeling challenging… it still persists. In my first session, I realized that speaking to CSA survivors at CCIs, expressing emotions, making them engaged in the storytelling session is not as easy as it seems. I appreciate FFCP-Muskaan and their programs designed specifically for CSA survivors by considering their thoughts and needs. My sessions aimed towards trying to keep their recurring thoughts at bay, fostering a spirit of collaboration among them, making their dialogues more robust and easier and channelizing their thoughts and emotions constructively.
With that perspective I started using some elements of drama in my sessions. I could see, increasing self-confidence, a sense of camaraderie between the girls, mastering the art of speech, coming up with impromptu responses, performing drama—all of these. And even before all this, I could realize the trust developed in me and my sessions.
