Awareness Sessions

Awareness sessions are of utmost importance to prevent child sexual abuse (CSA) by promoting early detection and intervention, empowering children, breaking the silence, building support networks, reducing stigma. By educating and empowering all stakeholders, we can create a safer environment for children and reduce the prevalence and impact of CSA.Our sessions provides a sound knowledge of sexual abuse, its dynamics and the concept of grooming. It refrains from burdening children with guilt by teaching them to say no and run away. These programs also leads to the disclosure of abuse and are effective in the prevention of CSA situations.

We believe that prevention of child sexual abuse is not a child’s responsibility. So our awareness sessions are also a first step towards educating significant adults in the child’s life to understand, prevent, recognize and react responsibly to the cases of CSA.

Training Program

Our training programs on CSA & POCSO for NGO staff, CBOs and professionals are vital for enhancing skills to recognize signs and symptoms of CSA, adopting a child-centered approach, promoting inter-agency collaboration, understanding legal frameworks, developing counselling skills, providing rehabilitation and support. By investing in specialized training for Police on POCSO, we are improving the response to CSA cases, supporting survivors effectively, and working towards creating a safer environment for children.

Case work

Under case work we assist survivors to navigate the complex systems and processes involved in reporting abuse, seeking justice, necessary physical & emotional support and rehabilitation services. For e.g. Assistance in lodging the FIR, physical and emotional support when the children give 164 statements, visiting hospital & court with parents, facilitating govt. schemes as well as taking both child and parent throughout the process comfortably. Our case workers recognizes the impact of trauma on survivors’ mental, emotional, and physical health and refer the cases for specialized counseling sessions.FFCP Case workers provide long-term support by checking in with survivors through call/home visit, assessing their progress, and addressing any emerging needs.

Counselling

Our counsellor help survivors cope with the psychological and emotional impact of abuse, allowing them to express their feelings, fears, and concerns. Through therapeutic techniques like REBT,CBT,Relaxation survivors are guided towards healing, developing healthier coping mechanisms, and rebuilding their sense of self-worth.Our Counselling sessions assist survivors understand that the responsibility lies with the abuser, not the survivor. Through validation, empathy, and reframing techniques, we reduce self-blame, release shame, and cultivate self-compassion within the survivors.

Police Support

The experience of police station are often overwhelming and intimidating for the CSA survivors as well as for their parents. So our case workers work closely with Investigating officers( IOs) and facilitate communication between the police and survivor, ensuring survivors’ voices are heard and respected (non threatening/child friendly) throughout the investigation process. It includes helping the police to get child’s statement, and filing the appropriate section under POCSO.

Legal Aid

We have our in-house lawyer and dedicated law firms to provide legal guidance and support to the survivors and their families. Our in-house lawyer take the survivor and parents through the judicial process like court proceedings, prepare survivors for court appearances, legal documentations, support while interacting with opposition lawyer and help them understand their roles as witnesses. We support the Public Prosecutors in handling the cases till conviction. Our legal team often works collaboratively with other professionals involved in supporting CSA survivors, such as IOs,case workers, and medical professionals. This interdisciplinary approach ensures that survivors receive comprehensive support and assistance throughout their legal journey.

Healing Services at JJB /Observation Home (Children in Conflict with The Law) & Child Care Institutions (CSA Survivors)

The Healing Services accompany our counselling and casework efforts in the healing, recovery and rehabilitation of children. We often use play, creative activities, games, and lighter elements that allow children to open up in a way that oftentimes conversation cannot enable. Healing Services activities aim to release stress, promote creativity and provide an outlet for anger and frustration among the CCL and CSA survivors.

We have been working with and counselling Children in Conflict with the Law (CCLs) since 2015, especially those who come under POCSO.In 2023 we have initiated Project Hausla at JJB/ Observation Home (Yerwada) in partnership with Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives and Project Saath Saath at Observation Home (Satara) in partnership with Gera Developers. These are structured programs specially designed for CCL that encompases counselling sessions of CCL in POCSO cases(Both In house and Bail Out cases),Lifeskill sessions for all the children as well as activities to strengthen the system and stakeholders involved in the process. These activities aimed at promoting positive personal and social development as well as equip children with the necessary skills, knowledge, and support systems to prevent reoffending and promote their successful reintegration into society.

Project Koshish at Child Care Institutions(CCIs)

Team FFCP had introduced healing services at CCIs in the year 2022. Seeing the positive impacts of various art based activities on CSA survivors we have launched Project Koshish in CCIs. Activities like counselling sessions for POCSO survivors,Lifeskill session, art based programs and vocational skilling courses are part of this initiative. These interventions help survivors rebuild their lives, enhances survivors’ ability to establish healthy relationships, make informed choices and move forward from the trauma they have experienced.

Community Intervention

The FFCP team has partnered with Eaton India Foundation to identify and train a cadre of 20 volunteers in two slum communities of Pune City, one each at PMC & PCMC. The community volunteers will be trained on concepts of para legal and para counselling through the sector expert and be the first responders to the CSA cases reported from their community, guide the survivors and refer the cases to FFCP social workers. Our goal is to build community ownership and increase reporting of CSA cases through these volunteers.
